Kathy was making red velvet with cream cheese frosting cake pops in preparation for her Valentines Cake Pop class with Objects of Confection this Saturday. These are actually her first cake pops of the year, since she’s been on vacation in Thailand/Vietnam and just starting a new job. Busy busy busy.

Lazy Sunday means I try to be more creative with my photo of the day. No Photoshop magic here, just a long exposure and some light painting with a flashlight.
Project 365 day 038 outtake. What was originally supposed to be just a simple happy face ended up being way creepier when I added flash bursts of my hand moving around and my face on the tail end of this 15 second exposure. Long exposure + light painting = ghosts. Freaky.

After an unsuccessful (for me) shopping trip at Le Garage Sale, Kathy and I ate lunch at Thai Fresh.
We both had a tasty coconut soup with mushrooms and lemongrass, and a tofu pad Thai. For dessert, I got a slice of lemon thyme cake. So many flavors, overwhelmed by deliciousness… ahhhh!

Violet Crown burger: A Bleu Cheese Burger topped with bleu cheese, and grilled onions on a toasted jalapeño cheese bun. Onion rings on the side.
…this was Kathy’s dinner at Phil’s Ice House. I had a vanilla milkshake. I want real food/the ability to chew again. Sigh.
Earlier today I also had Yogurt Planet (my first post wisdom teeth surgery frogurt!) and Tom’s Tabooley with Phil (no relation to the ice house), and had the 1960s Olympus Pen D3 I got off ebay, looked at at Precision Camera.

It’s like a chipmunk got punched in the face.
Wisdom teeth surgery aftermath: my face turned some funky colors. First it was blue and yellow, then I guess it combined and my jaw turned green (it’s more apparent in real life compared to this photo). I was very zombie-ish on campus today.
Had kind of an awkward conversation with a random classmate today…
guy: So, what happened to you?
me: I had my wisdom teeth out, which left bruises… I didn’t like, get beat on or anything.
guy: Oh.

I had wisdom teeth surgery five days ago, yet managed to drive directly from Houston (decided to not take my painkillers that day, hence no falling asleep at the wheel) and still make it to San Marcos, specifically Old Main, 5 minutes before my grad class started. Win! I’m pretty determined to learn WordPress, HTML5 and CSS3.
When I got home, I checked the mail and found a package I’d ordered through Etsy came. Small thank you gifts for my NPPA officers… starting a student organization isn’t easy and tokens of appreciation are always nice.

I’ve discovered everything makes me nauseous except for SpaghettiOs today. Banana-avocado smoothies, ramen, apple sauce, yogurt all made me want to vomit. Ugh. I think it’s the meds?

Left the house for the first time since Friday; Dad and I went grocery shopping. Our cart was filled with soup, pastas, ice cream, juices and sherbet.
All that’s been on my mind: teeth. Spelled out with alphabet SpaghettiOs. It even photographed gross. I miss solid food! I feel your pain Homer:

According to my oral surgeon, day three is supposed to be the worst, swelling-wise. I woke up like a chipmunk today. Note the bruising starting to show on my left side of my face.

Bed Buddy Cold Pack and ribbon.
In better news, I received an email notifying me that I’ve been accepted as a volunteer for the 2011 SXSW Photography Crew. I’ll be photographing throughout the Music portion of the festival, yay free music badge!

Nothin’ to do and no where to go-o-o I wanna be sedated.
Hydrocodone as a painkiller (white), Amoxicillin to fight infection (yellow), Dexamethasone to reduce swelling (green) and not pictured, Chlorhexidine oral rinse to to treat redness and swelling of the gums. Ay yi yi, so many post-wisdom teeth surgery drugs. I couldn’t sleep very well due to the pain, but at least the sockets stopped bleeding. Ice packs help. Right now all I can eat are super liquidy foods (banana + milk smoothie, pudding mixed with milk, soup.)
I’m more chipmunk cheeked today. Swelling is supposed to be the worst on day three, tomorrow. So expect some funny photos for Project 365 day 031.
